A specialist physiotherapy postnatal MOT is a 90 postnatal check up we recommend for all mums following both vaginal delivery and caesarean section, whether you are 6 weeks, 6 months or 6 years postnatal.
What is included in a postnatal MOT?
Assessment and treatment of any hip, pelvic, back or coccyx pain
Pelvic floor assessment
Check for pelvic organ prolapse
Scar check and scar tissue management
Assessment of abdominals and rehabilitation of diastasis (tummy separation)
Guidance on return to exercise
A chance to discuss any concerns you may have
When should I book?
We recommend booking a postnatal MOT around 6 weeks postnatal and definitely before returning to exercise. However, it is never too late!
Does a postnatal MOT include treatment?
Yes. Individualised treatment will be offered based on your assessment.
Do you do postnatal massage?
Massage is a great way to relieve tense muscles in the postnatal period. Following your postnatal MOT, massage can be offered as part of physiotherapy treatment.
Can I still have a postnatal MOT if I do not have any issues?
Absolutely!
A postantal MOT is suitable if you are not having any issues but just want everything checked, especially if you are planning on returning to exercise
Can I still have a postnatal MOT if I do not want a pelvic floor assessment?
Yes!
Many women opt to skip the pelvic floor assessment especially if they are not having any issues.
Can I bring my baby?
Of course, babies welcome.
How much does it cost?
Your postnatal MOT will cost £100.
Any follow up appointments required will cost £60.
